According to the scriptures, a householder should rely on the "3 Brahmastras": 1) Chanting the Gayatri Mantra (the ultimate neutralizer), 2) Chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra (for severe health issues), and 3) Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa (to ward off curses, court cases, and Saturn/Rahu afflictions). Note: Highly advanced Shakta (Tantric) mantras of the Das Mahavidyas should NEVER be chanted without proper initiation (Deeksha) from a Guru.

The Dwadasakshara Mantra (12-syllable mantra): "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" is the most important mantra to be chanted throughout the 12 days.

While it generally brings early struggles, delays, and mental hardships, it is not an ultimate curse. Many highly successful people, politicians, and businessmen have Kaal Sarp Dosh. It forces a person to struggle intensely, but once the karma is cleared (often post 35-42 years of age) or remedies are performed, it can give massive, sudden success.

The "Shree Suktam" or specific mantras for Venus (Shukra) and Jupiter (Guru) are powerful for attracting wealth. However, consistent karma and hard work are the vehicles that mantras fuel.
